Mother of HipHop legend Tupac died yesterday. Afeni Shakur passed away at the age of 69.The former Black Panther, who overcame many demons such as drugs and alcohol abuse. She in herslef was the definition of a strong black woman. Born Alice Faye Williams she her name when she joined the Black Panther Movement.

 Her and other members were arrested in 1969, with charges such as conspiracy to bomb landmarks and other charges. When I say she was smart I’m not kidding. When it came down to the trial in May 1971 she beat all the charges after representing herself.

This woman influenced Tupac in ways we don’t even know from music and to his way of thinking. She gave birth to a legend who influenced many and still do with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, JCole and many others.

She was a mother, activist, Black panther, business woman . A true inspiration to many. She and her son are together now and resting.
